Finally got around to watching Barbie with the girls last night. Throughly enjoyed it.
What a beautifully made film. People talk about “wooden acting” but watching Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling managing to convey the impression of being plastic dolls was amazing.
I loved the interweaving of gender politics and even blubbed at the “meaning of life” ending.
I was a bit underwhelmed when I first saw it, but, because it hadn’t costed much more to buy than to rent on my AppleTV, I then went back and watched it again a couple of days later, and appreciated it a great deal more.
And, of course, I’ve been singing ‘Closer to Fine’ ever since… 🙂

I thought the production design was amazing with all of the in jokes about the clothing and accessories like the car and the campervan. I also loved the way Margot Robbie acted with her feet!

I still haven’t seen it yet but it’s on the list. It’s had such positive reviews from everyone.
